This identification key deals with all European species of the longhorn beetles excluding the dorcadionini. There is an introduction with numerous line drawings and colour photographs which enhance the classifcation and biology of these beetles. The dichotomous keys lead to the families, subfamilies, genera and species. Numerous detailed illustrations complete the keys, and enable easy and exact determination. More than 130 outline drawings of typical representatives facilitate the identification of the genera. A short characterization of each species completes the determination. The 400 distribution maps give a detailed picture of the occurrence of each species in Europe. For each species, information is given on the biology and the economic important of the larvae and adult beetles. An extensive appendix of more than 700 titles lists the most important systematic and faunistic publications of the last 100 years.
